Vinayak Chandrasekaran’s ‘Good Night’ is an easy watch with a few good laughs, but it struggles to hang on to a single tonality

Spoilers continue…

This is why this film never lives up to its potential. The central relationship starts off well enough, but it becomes very repetitive and very contrived in the second half..

good night

good nightWritten and directed by Vinayak Chandrasekaran, the film is marketed as a comedy about a man with a snoring problem, but it is actually more of a drama, about a man with a snoring problem. not only. But let’s start at the beginning when we meet the family of this man, Mohan, played by Manikandan. We also met his mother, two sisters, his brother-in-law who lives with him, and some neighbors who come to ask for help. This environment is instantly established in minutes. The same goes for Anu, played by Metha Raghunas. She is a lonely person and her only “family” is the lovely old couple who rent her room. The casual relationship between this older duo is great. I wanted to watch a whole movie about them.
