Isabella Merced, Eddie Gategui and Nathan Fillion will play iconic comic book superheroes.
The upcoming movie Superman Legacy, which brings the DC Universe to life in live action, brings together the talents of three more actors to play the iconic superheroes of the comics. Hawkgirl is played by Isabella Merced, Mr. Terrific is played by Eddie Guategui, and Nathan Fillion plays Green Lantern, a role not always associated with the character.
The 2025 film, written and directed by James Gunn, has already cast David Korenwett as Clark Kent and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’s Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane. Filming on the film is set to begin in January 2024, laying the groundwork for the new DCU that director James Gunn is creating in partnership with DC Studios Chairman and CEO Peter Safran.
Recently, it was reported that Isabella Merced, best known for her roles in Sicario: Day of Soldado and Dora and the Lost City, was announced as a new addition to DC Studios. She ends up playing the role of Hawkgirl, the winged warrior in the new universe. Hawkgirl’s preferred weapons are melee weapons such as swords, spears, and maces. Merced’s height makes her stand out at 5 feet 1 inch, making her stand out from the usual comic book martial artists.
Nathan Fillion previously said in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. Will be seen wearing a bowl.
Set to release on July 11, 2025, Superman: Legacy was announced earlier this year as part of the early stages of Gunn and Saffron’s revamped slate. This is positioned as an important project to launch the company’s new strategy.
