The eye-catching carpet was locally created by Neytt and woven using natural fibers by Extraweave, a business owned by three generations of a family that has been producing floor coverings for over a century in Kerala.
About 7,000 square meters of carpet were created for the Met Gala. The carpet is made from sisal fiber, which comes from the skin of the agave tree. The carpets are made from the finest Madagascar fibers. After 70 days of painstaking work, the construction of the carpet was completed. An American craftsman created a blue and red pattern on a sisal carpet. Including the stripes, it took 100 days to make the carpet. The S-shaped line pays homage to this year’s theme Karl Lagerfeld: A Line Of Beauty by reflecting a widely held theory. Famous English painter William Hogarth popularized his style of S-shaped curving Line of Beauty.
