The seeds of pan-Indian cinema have been sown (?). Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan suddenly cut back on the number of films they appeared in, but managed to keep their special spots. Mutu (1995, KSR Vikmar)

Nadigan (1990, P.Vasu)
This is a great fun movie about a man posing as an old music master who gets caught in a love triangle love trap between a woman and her much older aunt. This is his one of the few feature length comedy films by Sathyaraj. The actor pairing with Gondamani burst into laughter. The duo continued his dream run for years. Along with the lead actors, the timeless Manorama also carried the film on its shoulders. The whole story is driven by a recurring theme in Tamil cinema, ‘Comedy in English/Comedy in English’. Having directed movies since the 80’s, his P.Vasu flourished during the first few years of the 90’s with his blockbuster after blockbuster. It was as if he had suddenly cracked the code. Nadigan It’s a remake of a Hindi movie from the 60’s.
Bombay (1995, Mani Ratnam)
Second in Mani Ratnam’s nationalism series. Setu (1999, rose)
Making comedy is hard.It’s harder to make a tragedy like Setu You may lose sleep at night. Setu that is moon rum Pirai in the 90’s. Living true to his master’s legacy, Bala, in his first film was forever etched in the memory of Tamil film lovers. The director drew from Vikram’s deep hoard of actors who delivered his once-in-a-lifetime performance (..until the director next appeared with him). Maestro Irayaraja said,Enge Sellum indha paadhai..” It just breaks your heart.movies like Setu Rare. They come once every ten years.
Indian (1996, Shankar)
I have seen this movie many times in theaters.It’s hard to shoot like a movie Indian It had such grand vision and extraordinary execution in just a few lines. Indian It’s just a top notch movie. Kamal Hassan gave an incredible performance as Senapathy, a veteran vigilante who sided with Shubhash Chandra Bose in India’s struggle for independence. The movie had a running time of over three hours for him and was eventually trimmed at the theater level. The story had a radical yet organic ending. Indian There are so many factors like – Varmakarai, Free Movement, Corruption, Family Feelings, Animal Rights, Love Triangles, Investigations, etc. can stand on their own as independent films. and lead to success. It’s interesting and disappointing that he’s yet to reach his one-man scale. Bahubali again RRR.
