There was a time in Hindi cinema when films were devised that could be categorized into a genre called ‘Islamic social drama’. Most of the characters were Muslims with Hindu best friends. They spoke and wore very likable Urdu Shervanis and Shararas. Some notable and successful features to come out of the genre are: meboob ki mehandi , Nikaa and Chaudavi Ka Chand. Tik marries Shell It’s a brilliant attempt to revive this seemingly dead and forgotten genre.
The film’s producer, Kangana Ranaut, has found success with his romantic film series. Tanu married Manu (similar to the title of this movie). The series featured a ferocious, irrationally rebellious girl as the main character. This hero realized his love for a person who is completely opposite to himself in all respects. Some of those elements are clearly present in this film as well.
inspiration from Tanu married Manu It is not limited to titles or title letters. The film also incorporates a very conscious and melodious musical touch. TWM had a Mohit Chohan number (“kitone dafe dill ne cahaThis was a musical one-sided conversation that did not follow the rhythm of traditional Hindi songs. Similarly, here is his Mohit Chauhan number (“Tum say mir ke yun laga”) There are always non-rhymed lines, and the song acts as a musical love letter.
Speaking of inspiration, consider this synopsis. “A young girl in a relationship with a married man enters into a conditional arranged marriage set with hidden motifs. No. They both face several heartbreaks and deceptions to get through this forced marriage and eventually accept each other.” Ring the bell? ?This synopsis is as important as the story of Kanu Baal Titli it’s about Tik marries Shell.
To sum it all up: Tik marries Shell is Titri-Told through the lens of TWM’s small-town romance using the old template of Islamic socialist drama, such a gritty tale was brought to life by a writer-director who had the quirkiness and idiosyncrasies of the predecessor’s most powerful characters. was directed. The end result is a part funny, part quirky, part emotional romantic drama with serious and sincere intentions.
However, not all these parts work all the time. There are scenes and elements that feel forced into the story. For example, Nawazding Siddiqui’s shell, which deals drugs, looks very awkward and ill-fitting. So is Avnith Kaul’s Tik, which is so sudden and shocking (not in a good way but shocking) that he falls into a prostitution racket. But, to the writing team’s and director’s credit, half the script is full of moments of warmth, comedy, heartbreak, and a moving romantic track on either side of these lame scenes. is filled with Plus, the weaker parts of the story are fast-paced, which helps the movie a little bit. This crisp editing helps keep the movie focused (focused on being a good movie) Kicchadi Considering the range of movies it draws inspiration from (with various genres) intact, it could have gone all the way otherwise.
Some of the most simply written works are also the most brilliant. How could anyone admire this lovely little scene where the protagonist’s eyes are not on the heroine, but on the heroine in the mirror? While the hero is depressed just by seeing the heroine, the heroine pays no attention to the existence of the hero. Her contempt for him could not be greater. There are quite a few sequences in this film that ooze with the inherent innocence and sincerity of this flawed lead pair. When these parts are played by an actor like Nawaz, complemented by a very promising debut, Avnith Kaur, the impact is multiplied.
Notice the cowl in the scene auditioning for the role. In this audition, we see her strength and determination (conveying her inner modern Manikarnika) in her character. However, the scenes immediately before and after this scene show her weakness, frustration, and helplessness. Despite being at the extremes of her emotions, she stays true to herself. The casting of an actor like Nawaz is staggering for such a good debut, and Shell doesn’t appear on screen for much of the second half. But unsurprisingly, every time Nawaz appears onscreen, he’s a cracker in his comical parts, a bubble ready to burst in a moment of fleeting rage. In the brief moment when one of the girls dumps him for a wealthy client, the subtle shift in his facial expression melts our hearts.
The climax part seems to be the same as the climax of Mirzapur Season 1, but here it is with a happy ending. Considering that installments are offered to the smaller characters at regular intervals to complete the arc at the end, this violent and musical presentation never seems unjustified or out of place. . On the contrary, it enhances the quirky flavor to some extent.
Older, classic wines develop very slowly, but we don’t want classics all the time. In some cases, a cocktail of a particular drink and juice in a particular ratio can give you an instant high. Tik marries ShellIt’s by no means original or ambitious, but knowing how much of what borrowed elements need to be blended together to make a movie that leaves a smile (if not a big smile) on the audience’s face. There are some characteristic eccentricities, emotional ups and downs, and laughter moments in doing so. It may not be breezy, but it is nevertheless an easy, breezy, funny, quirky romantic watch that delivers what is expected.
