Film director Vivek Agnihotri expressed his excitement Monday over the overwhelming response to Christopher Nolan’s biopic thriller Oppenheimer, which filled Kashmir cinemas.

Vivek, director of The Kashmir File, shared a news clipping on social media with the headline, “Director Oppenheimer Brings Kashmiris Back To The Cinema Enormously.”

Vivek Agnihotri writes: Since the 90s, cinemas have been set on fire and banned. It’s heartening to see such a film become the first science film to sell out. ”

“Oppenheimer,” starring Cillian Murphy, follows the life of theoretical physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer, who played a central role in the development of the first nuclear weapon as part of the Manhattan Project, thereby ushering in the atomic age.

Overwhelmed with emotion, he also shared the news about his film Vaccine War, co-produced with Pallavi Joshi, which will also be released in Kashmir.

With great anticipation for the release of Vaccine War, Vivek expressed gratitude for the opportunity to present the work in Kashmir.

In an upbeat post, he said, “I am delighted that our science film #TheVaccineWar #ATrueStory will also be released in Kashmir. I assure you that Kashmiri youth, especially women, will be proud to see India’s greatest scientific achievement on the big screen.”

Although the region’s turbulent past has not daunted the filmmaker, he sees this as an important milestone for the region’s cinema.

The promise of science-based films like ‘The Vaccine War’ to be screened in Kashmir has deep implications for both filmmakers and audiences. It symbolizes progress, change, and the triumph of knowledge over adversity.

Professionally, Vivek is gearing up for Zee5’s upcoming web series, The Kashmir Files Unreported.

The series uncovers the unreported realities, facts, and truths behind the massacre and escape of the Kashmir Pandits straight from the horse’s mouth, making it far more heartbreaking, eye-opening and chilling.

It also maps the centuries-long journey of Kashmir, hailed as a paradise on earth, India, its importance to its people and culture, and its evolution from a melting pot of civilizations and knowledge to being repeatedly attacked, radicalized and systematically reduced to the battlefields of today.
