Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma went out for dinner with the rest of the team, members of Royal Challengers Bangalore, in Mumbai on Tuesday. Afterwards, the couple came out of the restaurant to pose for pictures in front of photographers, one of whom mistook Anushka and called her “teacher.” Virat jokingly replied that then he should call himself “ma’am”. A paparazzi account captured the exchange online. Virat wore a printed shirt, black pants and white sneakers, while Anushka wore a white striped vest, white pants and black heels. The video shows the couple stepping outside after dinner to pose for the paparazzi. One of the photographers mistakenly called Ms. Anushka “teacher” in an attempt to draw their attention to the camera. Virat then joked, “Virat maam bi bol de (why don’t you say virat maam too!)” and the photographer apologized. The couple gleefully accepted the gaffe and returned to the restaurant.
The paparazzi mistake left many of her fans divided in her Instagram post. Most of the fans didn’t understand Virat’s joke either. One fan wrote, “(tearful grin emoji) Virat Mama.” Another wrote, “Mr. Anushka (smiling face with tears emoji) virat mam bi boorde @virat.kohli.” Another fan called them “favorite couple,” and yet another shared, “These two (fire and heart eye emoji).”
Virat’s team RCB lost a close match against the Mumbai Indians on Tuesday. Anushka attended all the games and watched from the stands. The two married in Italy in 2017 in a private ceremony with close friends and family. They dated for several years. Their daughter Vamika Kohli was born in January 2021.
Anushka has taken a break from acting for the past few years. Her last appearance was in the movie Zero (2018), where she was with Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif. In 2020, she produced her web series Paatal Lok and film Bulbbul. The actor made a cameo appearance in the song “Ghodey Pe sawar” in the Netflix movie Qala (2022) produced by her brother Kanesh Sharma.
