“I remember my first job was delivering fish and shrimp. My grandmother’s sister ran a fish company. Her name was Machiwara. It was my first job, and when I told someone about it, they said, “To Machiwari Hai?” (Are you a fisherman),” Twinkle told Tweak India during a conversation with Johnny Lever.

Using his own example, Twinkle asked Johnny what was the name of the weirdest job he did before making comedy a profession. Johnny tells Twinkle that he sells pens on the street and imitates actors so he can sell more. Twinkle’s husband, actor Akshay Kumar, also made a special appearance on the show.

This isn’t the first time Twinkle has talked about his first job. Speaking to the Carriege Times in 2016, Twinkle said of her career change, “I wrote half a novel when I was 18, and I knew I would write one day, because my world is full of words. because there is,” he said. She is an avid reader, and when she was younger she said she wanted to be a Chartered Accountant (CA).

“I’ve worked all my life. My first job was working for my grandmother’s sister’s company, delivering boxes of fish and shrimp. Later, while working as an interior coordinator’s assistant, I passed the CA exam. I applied, mathematics has always been my favorite subject,” Twinkle added. Twinkle then started getting film offers and her mother told her the girl was “the right age to make that much money,” she said.

Twinkle made her Bollywood debut in 1995 with Bobby Deol in Barsaat. She also acted in movies like Jab Pyaar Kisise Hota Hai, Baadshah and Joru Ka Ghulam.

After working in films for a while, Twinkle quit acting in 2001 and embarked on a writing career in 2015. Her first book, Mrs Funnybones, was widely acclaimed. She also authored another book, The Legend of Lakshmi Prasad, which is an anthology of her stories in 2017.
