It’s no surprise that the popular young adult series The Summer I Turned Pretty chose pop sensation Taylor Swift as its icon. The cast, including Laura Tung, Gavin Casaleño, Christopher Briney, and writer-turned-producer Jenny Han, are all fans of American pop star Taylor Swift and have expressed their love for her. The season two trailer features some of the singer’s most famous songs, including “Back to December (Taylor’s Version),” as well as unreleased re-recordings from her upcoming album, “Speak Now (Taylor’s Version).”
Likewise at the beginning, lead actor Gavin Casaleño, who plays Jeremiah, the younger brother of the show’s two-brother duo, explains why a particular Taylor Swift song is one of his undisclosed favorite scenes from the series, and why it’s so important. When asked if he was, he said: “I feel like music is like the seasoning of the moment. When there’s a difficult dialogue, or a steamy moment or whatever, music really makes a difference. It definitely adds a little spice, especially when it comes to this scene.” I think it made it more fun and lively, and I think people will enjoy it.”
The show also frequently features Berry, played by Laura Tung, vibrating to Taylor Swift songs. Laura recalled her memories of joining Taylor’s Hellas Tour, and she said “she was just magical” when Taylor showed off her entire music catalog. For Tung, a longtime Swift fan of hers, the concert was a revelation. She said, “Even albums like ‘Evermore’ that I hadn’t listened to much, I was like, ‘Oh my God, what a beautiful album.'” Each one was so special and unique, and so much fun. “
Taylor Swift’s songs have been an integral part of the “The Summer I Turned Pretty” series ever since the season 1 teaser set against the backdrop of “This Love.” Fans can look forward to hearing August and other unreleased songs in Season 2. The series is the film adaptation of Jenny Han’s best-selling book trilogy of the same name. Season 2 of ‘Summer I Turned Pretty’ will premiere on OTT on July 14th.
