Niyat

“Niyat” is based on the story of a wealthy man Ashish Kapoor (Ram Kapoor), who invites his entire family to his birthday dinner in his isolated old mansion. By the end of the night, however, he is found dead. Detective Mila Rao (Vidya Balan), who is investigating the case, insists it is a murder, not a suicide. She discovers that her entire family are suspects with good motives.

Niyat marks the reunion of Vidya with Anu Menon, who had previously collaborated on the mathematical genius biopic Shakuntala Devi. Niyat opens in theaters on July 7th.

Interestingly, Vidya has only been seen in Prime Video films such as Shakuntala Devi (2020), Sherni, and most recently Suresh Triveni’s Jartha last year. Nyiyat will make a long-awaited return to the screen after four years.
